He was called the “giant” of American diplomacy.
Henry Kissinger, who was the Secretary of State under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, passed away at the age of 100 on Wednesday at his home in Connecticut.
Throughout his lifetime, he was seen as one of the most influential, top diplomats on behalf of America. He played a central role in establishing relations with China, worked to end the Vietnam War, assisted Israel during the Yom Kippur War of 1973, and took part in many other efforts headed by the United States in the second half of the 20th century.
His website reported, “International statesman, lifelong scholar, skilled negotiator and architect of a lasting era of peace, stability, prosperity and global order — Dr. Kissinger’s impact on generations of citizens, from the U.S. to China, cannot be minimized.”
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and three adult children.
